Rotary seals separate system pressures and media against the atmosphere under rotating movements of the opposing surface. There are two generic categories of rotary seals: high-pressure/low-velocity (rotor seals) and low-pressure/high-velocity (rotary shaft seals). Both symmetrical and unsymmetrical designs are available. Parker´s bearing isolator selection includes non-contact, labyrinth designs which provide unsurpassed bearing protection for rotary shaft equipment. It is designed to retain lubrication and exclude aggressive contaminants in non-flooded applications. Specialty isolators include dual-contacting versions for flooded and oil mist applications, among many others.
